According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose is edging closer towards a permanent exit from north London as French giants Paris Saint-Germain will monitor his performances for the remainder of the season.

What’s the word?

The 29-year-old is currently on loan at Newcastle United, and it is claimed that PSG will be watching him ahead of a potential summer switch.

Rose wants to try and make England’s Euro 2020 squad and his chances of doing so were quickly diminished after being exiled by new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho – playing just 16 times.

PSG could be after a new left-back as they fear Layvin Kurzawa will leave at the end of the campaign and the Englishman is at the top of their list to replace him.

Permanent exit?

Rose’s time at Tottenham quickly changed following Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking as he was a regular under the Argentine, playing 150 of his 214 matches at the club with him at the helm, per Transfermarkt’s recorded games.

His contract isn’t set to expire until the summer of 2021, so when he returns from his Magpies loan, he will have another year to run on his current deal, and despite claiming he would see out the duration of it, he went against his word to go out on loan.

If PSG do indeed come knocking for the £18m-rated defender, it could be a win-win for all parties as Spurs can garner some sort of profit on what they paid Leeds for him back in 2007, approximately £1m according to reports, a good move considering he will be 30 come next season.

Rose would, in turn, get a shot at continuing his career at the highest level in a team that will be most likely competing in the Champions League – something that Newcastle will be unable to offer him long-term, with all due respect.
