Last month, the FA announced the appointment of former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss Tuchel as England's new manager as he becomes the first German coach in history to manage the Three Lions. Tuchel's appointment divided opinion as many felt that the FA's decision had let down homegrown coaches.

While the 51-year-old's appointment has already been confirmed, he will only take charge of the national team from January 1. Interim Lee Carsley managed England one last time on Sunday as Harry Kane and Co. thrashed Ireland 5-0 in their final UEFA Nations League group game. According to , a section of the England fans were heard singing the offensive '10 German bombers' at Wembley Park tube station after the match.

The infamous chant in question references the Royal Air Force's victories during the Second World War to the tune of the traditional folk song, 'She’ll Be Coming ’Round the Mountain. In the past, efforts were made to stop supporters from singing the chant at England's games and they were even warned against it during the 2024 European Championship by the local German police.
