After inquiry, the Limburg public prosecutor's office informed that the robbery happened between 4 pm to 9 pm local time on December 16. The perpetrators completely ransacked the house and left things upside down. The robbery was discovered by De Bruyne's wife Michele Lacroix.

WHAT WAS SAID

The official investigation report from the prosecutor's office read, "Everything was turned upside down, so it is not yet entirely clear what the exact disadvantage is. But at first glance, it appears that mainly jewelry has been stolen.

"The investigation into what exactly happened is still ongoing. The forensic laboratory has already arrived on site for a trace investigation and a camera and neighborhood investigation will follow. It is therefore not yet clear who the perpetrators are."

The Belgium international suffered a hamstring injury during the club's Champions League final against Inter in May this year. The injury recurred during the Sky Blues' season opener against Burnley as the star player had to be subbed off early into the game.

He has now rejoined training and has accompanied the squad to Jeddah where Pep Guardiola's side will play their opening Club World Cup game against Urawa Reds on Tuesday.
